"Solar System Exploration @ 50" was held in Washington, D.C., on 25-26 October 2012. The purpose of this symposium was to consider, over the more than 50-year history of the Space Age, what we have learned about the other bodies of the solar system and the processes by which we have learned it. Symposium organizers asked authors to address broad topics relating to the history of solar system exploration such as various flight projects, the development of space science disciplines, the relationship between robotic exploration and human spaceflight, the development of instruments and methodologies for scientific exploration, as well as the development of theories about planetary science, solar system origins and implications for other worlds. The papers in this volume provide a richly textured picture of important developments - and some colorful characters - in a half century of solar system exploration. A comprehensive history of the first 50 years of solar system exploration would fill many volumes. What readers will find in this volume is a collection of interesting stories about money, politics, human resources, commitment, competition and cooperation, and the "faster, better, cheaper" era of solar system exploration"--$$cProvided by publisher. 001404566 61010 $$aUnited States.$$bNational Aeronautics and Space Administration$$xHistory$$vCongresses. 001404566 61017 $$aUnited States.$$bNational Aeronautics and Space Administration.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst00528469 001404566 650_0 $$aPlanets$$xExploration$$xHistory$$vCongresses. 001404566 650_0 $$aSpace flight$$xHistory$$vCongresses. 001404566 650_0 $$aAstronautics$$xHistory$$vCongresses. 001404566 650_0 $$aSpace sciences$$xHistory$$vCongresses. 001404566 650_6 $$aPlanètes$$0(CaQQLa)201-0047490$$xExploration$$0(CaQQLa)201-0047490$$xHistoire$$0(CaQQLa)201-0378888$$vCongrès.$$0(CaQQLa)201-0378219 001404566 650_6 $$aVol spatial$$0(CaQQLa)201-0002488$$xHistoire$$0(CaQQLa)201-0378888$$vCongrès.$$0(CaQQLa)201-0378219 001404566 650_6 $$aAstronautique$$0(CaQQLa)201-0000399$$xHistoire$$0(CaQQLa)201-0378888$$vCongrès.$$0(CaQQLa)201-0378219 001404566 650_6 $$aSciences spatiales$$0(CaQQLa)201-0002486$$xHistoire$$0(CaQQLa)201-0378888$$vCongrès.$$0(CaQQLa)201-0378219 001404566 650_7 $$aAstronautics.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst00819505 001404566 650_7 $$aExploration of outer space.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01353078 001404566 650_7 $$aPlanets$$xExploration.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01065139 001404566 650_7 $$aSpace flight.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01127676 001404566 650_7 $$aSpace sciences.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01127807 001404566 651_0 $$aOuter space$$xExploration$$xHistory$$vCongresses. 001404566 651_6 $$aEspace extra-atmosphérique$$0(CaQQLa)201-0002501$$xExploration$$0(CaQQLa)201-0002501$$xHistoire$$0(CaQQLa)201-0378888$$vCongrès.$$0(CaQQLa)201-0378219 001404566 651_7 $$aOuter space.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01243437 001404566 655_2 $$aCongress$$0(DNLM)D016423 001404566 655_7 $$aConference papers and proceedings.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01423772 001404566 655_7 $$aHistory.$$2fast$$0(OCoLC)fst01411628 001404566 655_7 $$aConference papers and proceedings.$$2lcgft 001404566 655_7 $$aActes de congrès.$$2rvmgf$$0(CaQQLa)RVMGF-000001049 001404566 7001_ $$aBillings, Linda,$$eeditor. 001404566 7101_ $$aUnited States.$$bNASA History Division,$$eissuing body. 001404566 77608 $$iOnline version:$$aSolar System Exploration @ 50 (2012 : Washington, D.C.).$$t50 years of solar system exploration.$$dWashington, DC : National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Office of Communications, NASA History Division, [2021]$$z9781626830547$$w(DLC) 2020003168$$w(OCoLC)1150789657 001404566 830_0 $$aNASA SP (Series) ;$$v4705. 001404566 852__ $$bgen$$hTL 788.5$$i.S625$$i2020 001404566 85640 $$uhttps://purl.fdlp.gov/GPO/gpo174202 001404566 909CO $$ooai:library.usi.edu:1404566$$pGLOBAL_SET 001404566 980__ $$aGOV RESOURCE 001404566 980__ $$aEGOV 001404566 980__ $$aBIB 001404566 980__ $$aBOOK 001404566 982__ $$aGovernment E-Resource 001404566 983__ $$aOnline 001404566 994__ $$aC0$$bISE
